Ready made bedding.

These pictures demonstrate how ready-made bedding can be transformed to create a custom look.

This bedding was purchased by the client for a guest bedroom. The set included a dustruffle, duvet cover with scalloped top edge and contrast buttons, 2 standard, ruffled shams.

The client wanted to add interest to the room and bed with a valance and bed pillows in coordinating fabrics.

Also, note that the dust ruffle was too short for this style of bed.

To fill the gap from the too-short dust skirt, the client purchased quality sheets that coordinated with the set. The petticoat skirt was made in three pieces, one for each side of the bed. Each piece has a waistband which is attached to the top of the mattress, under the purchased dust skirt, with upholstery twist pins.

The layered petticoat look complements the floral cottage feel of the bed and bedding.

Using a mix of a solid, two plaids and a check fabric, the client added several pillows to the bed:

2 flanged European pillows at the back. Flanged in one of the plaids with a check microcording inset at the base of the flange.

2 18" square pillows in a bold plaid with check cording

1 Envelope pillow in a mix of small plaid with a solid flap and check cording.

My client had a wonderful time mixing prints to produce this custom look.
